Inspiring Creativity

"MoorArts is an advocate for the arts in the community.  We believe that arts should be regarded as a necessity, not a luxury."

MoorArts is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the fine and performing arts in Moorestown Public Schools and throughout the community. Proceeds from MoorArts sponsored events support MoorArts Scholarships for eligible Moorestown High School seniors and the MoorArts Grants Program for arts-based projects in the school system.

The MoorArts Board of Trustees is comprised of community members, school district administrators and faculty, and a school board representative who share a commitment to promoting the arts.  Our goals are to support a quality fine and performing arts curriculum throughout the school district and to provide venues to showcase the talents of our students, teachers, and local artists.

MoorArts also works to expand arts opportunities and awareness by teaming with community organizations, including Moorestown Parks & Recreation Department, Moorestown Community House, Moorestown Business Association, Moorestown Rotary Club, and others in the community.

MoorArts sponsored programs include a Holiday Arts Festival, a summer musical production, MoorMotion, performing arts workshops, and theatrical presentations. We provide venues to display student and professional artwork, present vocal and instrumental concerts, and mentor students in technical and administrative roles for arts productions. The organization is committed to ensuring that arts are accessible to everyone, and regularly sponsors events created for those with special needs.

Through the its Grants Program, MoorArts facilitates various arts programs within the Moorestown Public School System, such as field trips to see professional arts performances and multi-cultural events, funding arts-related teacher workshops, purchasing classroom instruments, sponsoring artists in residence, and underwriting school-wide arts projects.

Since its inception in 1991, MoorArts (established as Moorestown Arts Advocacy Council) has awarded over 200 scholarships for outstanding achievement in the visual arts, vocal music, theater, instrumental music, and dance. A number of our scholarship recipients now have promising careers in fine or performing arts or arts-related fields, and many of them have returned to participate in MoorArts as performers, technical and creative assistants, and in leadership positions.

We invite you to attend a MoorArts meeting held the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Moorestown High School. The success of our organization hinges on the active participation of members of our community who love the arts! To learn more about MoorArts or for information about our events, please call (856) 778-6600, ext. 18033, or email moorarts@mtps.com.

MoorArts (Moorestown Arts Advocacy Council) is registered with the IRS as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
